Providing Safe Sanctuary is the goal of VBS and Sumner UMC. These policies and procedures are aimed at ensuring children, youth and vulnerable adults are kept safe from abuse while they participate in the life of the church. We utilize Ministry Safe to provide Child Safety System to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse. Our practice of providing a safe sanctuary include:
Check In – Registered children accompanied by their parent / guardian each day, will check in with VBS staff at the beginning of each day, and check out at the end of each day.
First Aid – Nurse Practitioner volunteer will be on VBS staff in the event of health concerns.
Screening – Volunteers are screened for background checks and complete a safety awareness training.
