Sumner UMC is a welcoming Christian community that seeks to love God and neighbors, by offering hospitality, congregational care and community to all. We embrace individuals and families of all gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnicities, races, and economic backgrounds.

We honor the tradition of open minds, open hearts and open doors, seeking to love God and neighbor.  We seek to provide a spiritual home for our congregation and engage in service and ministry to Sumner, Bonney Lake and surrounding communities.

Our congregation affirms the following core values and strategic directions, as expressed in our 2024 strategic planning.

  • Serving Our Neighbors (Meeting Needs)
  • Inclusive and Welcoming
  • A Place of Belonging, Connection and Community
  • Embracing Formation, Growth, and Legacy

Strategic Directions

  • Be an Inclusive Church (Affirming all of God’s children)
  • Ministries focused on growth in Christ (spiritual formation) and communal life that’s intergenerational.
  • Leadership and Decision Making (Integrated Structure)
